Seems quite expensive - but as others have said it is a beautiful piece of engineering and an immediate and complete and trouble free solution. If you have questions about it you can contact them athttp://www.ratflap.com/#contact(i don't work for them but I put it up as amazon asked me to answer a query for someone)I wish I'd trusted my instincts and got one sooner- would have been much cheaper that 2 rat catchers and a drain unblocker who didn't know what they were doing.

BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER SPENT. 2 stars
Stay well clear of this model. The flap is flimsy and the whole thing does not stay in place on non plastic pipes. Unable to return product due to it being tried in sewer. There are more robust ones on the market two professions has same view of product. Take absolutely no notice of 5 star reviews on this site. If you want advice do not waste your money by the time you have paid for this you may as well have called your local water company or paid a professional to reciting the problem properly with a guarantee. Do not purchase.

Five Stars
Well engineered and easy to fit. No problems 3 months down the line. I wish I'd fitted it earlier.

Sturdy (but a bit rough around the edges - fiddly to fit)
I bought one of these for a new sewer extension and fitted this in the chamber under the inspection hatch. The sewer pipe was about 2.5 feet down - so I could reach the sewer pipe. I found that it wouldn't easily fit in the sewer pipe because of a very small lip between the inspection chamber and the pipe itself. Having bent the sides in a bit to fit - I then found the flap wouldn't move freely as the sides of the flap were not a smooth circle shape. So I had to use a hammer to bend the edges in as they weren't smooth.Time will tell to see how well it works - but the idea is sound and it seems to be durable

Simple, effective and worth the money
I must admit, when you pay £100 you have very high expectations. When the small tube packaging arrives (expected quicker having paid £5) you may be disappointed, however in practise, within 3 days, our rat problem has gone... so the price reflects more piece of mind than the design / cost of materials used. Having paid £400 to rat trap companies and poisons this has been well worth the money.

Very easy to fit and great product
Bought one of these as had a problem with rats coming up our drains and somehow getting into our cavity walls and then loft. Had tried poison and a number had died in our walls but more followed. This stops them from being able to get in in the first place. Very easy to fit and great product.

Simplicity and easy to fit.
I've tried humane and less humane ways of trying to get rid of my rat problem and have had several pest patrol folk in too. I even resorted to filming the rats with a cheap night vision security camera fed into all sorts of places to work out where their run was. This was successful and I managed to block them getting into the loft and also the soffits. However, somehow, they were still getting into the cavity wall. Pest folk suggested one of these but I was reluctant to spend this kind of money. Seemed very expensive for what it is. However, one rat did die in the drain leading out of the house and I could see no plausible way of how they're getting into the cavity walls from there. The plastic alternatives to this looked like they could be more prone to blocking so I decided to go ahead and purchase one.Fitting it was simple. (I did have gravel in the bottom of my pipe which I mostly cleared out. 'm not sure if this will cause it to eventual block or cause the swing door to be continually open and therefore let further critters in. Glad I bought this rather than the plastic alternatives as I think this would have definitely increased chances of blocking the door on the plastic ones.)After the first week of fitting it, I heard the rats in the cavity of our house, but since then, it's been quiet. It may be that one was the wrong side of the trap when I fitted it and has since gone through. Given my long term experience with this problem, I'm hesitant to say this has resolved the situation 100%. If the rats were coming up from the sewers, then fingers crossed, this should have done the trick and I'll regret not forking out this kind of money in the first place. If not, and they're living elsewhere, then I may have to think again.
