I use it everyday.
I use this everyday and I love it. Things I love: Slim design, easy to use, very little clean up, makes fine snow cone ice, or a little chunkier shaved ice. There is a dial on the bottom to adjust for the desired ice. The instructions say to fill the plastic containers 1/4 full with water and freeze. However, we have filling to 1/3 full. When frozen, simply put a frozen piece in the top of the machine and turn on. I bought some extra containers because I use it so much. I don't use syrups, instead I use fresh lime juice. You could buy in already squeezed form, but I like fresh better. There are lots of recipes on Pinterest. I'm sure orange juice would also taste good. In the summer I would like to try blending some watermelon until liquid and mixing it with the ice. I find it very refreshing. I use about 6 teaspoons of lime juice to one ice block. The limes can be a little time consuming to juice, so I recently bought a Breville citrus juicer from William Sonoma for $149 and I love it. It juices limes very quickly and easily. There is another one for $229.00 and it's all stainless steel. This is my favorite appliance.

FLUFFY SHAVED ICE!!!!!
The media could not be loaded. My husband said I should wait to write my review to make sure it continues to work properly. However I am so happy with how it works I’m not waiting! I have been looking for an actual shaved ice snow cone maker for so long, and I finally found it! I have gone through several machines trying to find one that actually shaves the ice instead of putting out chunks of ice. There is an adjustable knob on this machine so if you wanted more course ice you could have it. Honestly this machine(model no. S777) has exceeded my expectations, it’s not too loud, it’s design is compact and even portable if you need to take it with you, clean up is a breeze and it’s super easy to use! Did I mention that it actually shaves the ice?

A little tricky to figure out but works well.
Leaving the ice out to warm up and temper really is super important by the way. The ice molds with lids are pretty helpful. Will say that there isn’t a single bowl in my house that fits in the gap under the machine that only becomes a problem for shaving things that are softer and messier to shave like milk or juice. On that note i recommend shaved mango juice with a bit of strawberry syrup.

Hubby Loves It
My husband is a huge snow cone junkie, so I surprised him with this. He loves it! He’s used it almost daily for the past 3 months and it’s held up great. It’s a hit with the kids too. Offers everything between crushed ice and soft fluffy snow (which is what he prefers and what led me to choose this one). Easy to use by simply pressing down, no louder than a blender or chopper, shaves the ice in less than a minute, and super easy cleanup since really all you need to do is let the parts dry. We just use the bowls included for our ice molds and shave it into our own dinner bowls for serving. This is a staple in our kitchen and I would highly recommend this to fellow snow cone lovers! Makes a great gift and fun to break out when company is over and makes good wine slushees too ;)

Very Nice to Have in the Summer
Very nice to have in the summer. It does a very good job of shaving ice for a delicious summer treat. Easy to use.

Junk
Could not get the lid off, and the instructions were written very poorly. Complete waste of money, I wish I hadn’t waited so long to open it to realize that it’s drunk.

Fun and easy to use
This has been easy to use and fun for my daughter. I have been wary of the sharp blade inside, so she removes the remaining ice piece with something, but I have told her to not take the blade part out - just to leave it to dry assembled. It has worked well and makes a quick few bowls of fluffy shaved ice.

Not just a kids treat, also best customer service experience in years!
After using this every day for about 5 months a part broke inside my unit. I sent an email to ask if I could just buy a part so I didn't have to purchase a new unit and to my dismay, they apologized and sent me a brand-new unit. There was no discussion of what I did to cause this to happen or anything else. I sent a copy of my purchase through amazon and a picture of the sticker on the back and that's it. (Insert standing ovation) Major thanks to a truly amazing company. Now let me tell you why I use this pretty much every day.As far as the machine goes, it produces some of the best shaved ice/snow cones I have ever had. The last unit required a fair amount of strength as you had to push down on the ice & it was pretty loud. This new small black unit is so much easier to use. All you do is push a single button and it does the rest. Now there is a trick to getting your perfect serving. If you like true shaved ice, think eating fresh powdery snow, very soft and fluffy but melts somewhat quickly when you add syrup, 1st refrigerate your syrup so it's not as warm and 2nd use the ice disks right out of the freezer. This gives you a nice shave of the ice and it almost looks like white cotton. Now I happen to like more of a snow cone texture where I can chew on the small ice pieces. The trick here, let your ice disk warm up. Yup, as strange as it sounds take the disk out of your freezer and let it set for 10 to 20 min depending on how warm your room is. The disk will easily slip out of the mold and you will get a texture that is a lot more course than if you use it right out of the freezer. Both of these tips require you to use the white molds that are sold by Hawaiian shaved ice. Trust me, they are worth it. Yes you can use any ice cube your freezer makes but if you want to get your perfect snack get the disk's and experiment with how long you let them defrost before turning them into a fantastic snack. This last hack is only for people who eat a lot of these. Your snow cone is only as good as your water. If you don't drink what comes out of your tap don't use it to make ice. There can be a big difference in taste using purified water over tap.On a side note, this has replaced ice cream as my go to after dinner snack and I have lost about 20 lbs just eating shaved ice as a snack when I want something sweet. Red Cups make the perfect vessel to hold my favorite treat. ...and you can make them in advance. I just put a little plastic wrap over the top. They never last more than a few days in my freezer but I'm sure you could make some each day if you have a big party coming on the weekend.
