Easy to Use
Was looking at the deckle rulers but decided on this much easier.

Cuts a neat deckle edge...
The cutter was a bit stiff at first but has eased with a little use... It cuts a good consistent deckle edge though you have to be sure to hold down the clear plastic just before the cutter to make sure of getting the very end of the paper... So far so good...

Sturdy cutter
A strong cutter which gives a decile edge. Much better than using scissors.Quite stiff to use at first but gets easier with use.

Flawed design means you only get around six inches of true deckle edge
It says it cuts a length of 8.5 inches of deckle, but the design and engineering is so poor they've had to make the first two or three inches of the blade almost deckle-free to help it operate smoothly. There is a significantly noticeable change in depth of deckle after the first couple of inches, which is a shame because it makes its best feature of having an additional measurement guide at the top hinge end completely redundant.My HAMA one doesn't have this feature, or the useful grid on the deck, but it cuts a proper 9.5 inches of deckle....

This guillotine is an apology for a real deckle edge guillotine. Having owned such a guillotine in the past, I was disappointed to receive this shadow of a "proper" deckle edge guillotine. It gives a result which has no definite random shape and is so slight an edge as to be not convincing enough to merit a description of deckle edge. Even if "torn" is substituted as a description, the effect is that the edge of the paper or card which has been cut with this guillotine has been the subject of an accidental, poor and careless tearing without thought or deliberate intention to achieve a definite deckle look, as though done any old how. Very disappointing. The same edge result could have been achieved without the guillotine, much more cheaply. The guillotine adds nothing to a poor edge of waste paper.
