Great Product! - read this if setup needs help
These Wi-Fi Smart Outlets work great and the price was super reasonable. I’d like to share some installation (initialization) info from our experience for those who might be searching for help. The POWRUI customer service via Amazon messaging was prompt and helpful. We ran into problems having a dual frequency router - Wi-Fi 2.4G and 5G, with both frequencies using the same network name. From some reviews/questions here saying 5G is fine for setup, my guess is that some dual frequency routers will let the Smart Outlets connect and do the setup via 2.4G (which is what POWRUI is clear about them needing). In our case that wasn’t so, and rather than log into the router and make unique 2.4G and 5G network names (which is one solution, then during setup you log into the 2.4G named network), we chose to temporarily turn off 5G (disable in the router settings via a browser), do the initialization, then confirm that the Smart Outlets will reconnect and work via 2.4G after a power outage with the router back to dual frequency 2.4G/5G mode. (There are a couple schools of thought about dual frequencies using the same network name - SSID. An advantage of the same name is that your device can choose 2.4G or 5G, whichever is best where you are. 2.4G is actually better than 5g when you get farther from the router…)I did go back and test again for reconnection/use with 2.4G turned off, and no, even after initialization, the Smart Outlets will not use 5G. POWRUI’s 2.4G requirement is no doubt real. Obviously after installation your device with the Smart Life App can be connected via 5G, just like it doesn’t have to be on the same Wi-Fi network to control the outlets. It just has to be on the same Wi-Fi network for the setup/initialization process…The lights! That was a freckle confusing because before we figured out the 2.4G/5G trick for initialization, I could get the rapidly blinking light to do so just red, or sometimes blue-with-red alternating. Our successful initializations were just rapid red blinking, and after that we’ve observed that solid red means the Smart Outlet is off, and the blueish pink (purple) indicates the Smart Outlet is turned on. Some red blinking does happen during reconnecting after mimicking a power outage…Hope this can make sense to anyone needing this info!

Installs ONLY on 2.4GHz band
The media could not be loaded. I ordered these smartplugs because they cost $9 less than the Teckin versions I previously purchased. Those Teckin ones had no issues when trying to connect to the WiFi. These ones from POWRUI could not connect automatically until I forced my phone to run on the 2.4GHz band of the WiFi. (The Smart Life app says that it only runs on 2.4GHz, but that's not always the easiest thing to do.) I had to rename the 2.4GHz channel to do it, because my router automatically tries to connect to 5GHz first. This meant I had to reprogram some of my other devices later. But I was glad that I got the smart plugs to work. The other somewhat confusing thing about these smart plugs are the light colors. Please see my video & picture. When you start it, it goes red. Then when you hold down the power button, it'll turn off. Then, you need to hold it down for about 5 seconds for the light to start blinking to start your pairing with the Smart Life app. The rapid blinking starts out as the red light, but quickly goes to a blue & purple light. The instructions make no mention of the colors. And there's also a mode that blinks slower. So, my advice is to keep trying.Once it's paired with the app, it works great.

Works like a charm
We used one of these for a sump pump to keep our pool from overflowing during heavy rains. It saved me from having to downstairs and outside to turn this on in the middle of the night or even drive home from work whenever it rained hard. This works as a remote control and often use the countdown feature to run the pump for a certain number of minutes so I don't have to remember to turn it off again. We used the second as a timer for a lamp to go on ever day at dusk and off again at a certain time. When we're out of town, we can log onto the app and change it up so it looks like we're home. LOVE these things. They were a godsend.ONE NOTE: The plus stretch far to the left, so you should check for clearance first. They blocked the light switch on one of our outlets (luckily we had another option) for instance. Just plan ahead to make sure you don't need one of the smaller sized (square or round) versions that are sold.

Really inexpensive and easy set up
These are probably some of the cheapest (price) wifi outlets you can buy. Like many other import outlets they use the Smart Life app, which was actually good for me since I had some other outlets that use that app. Set up was very easy for me and they are very responsive from both the app and integrated with Alexa and Smartthings through IFTTT. Now for the negatives. The audible click when they turn on and off is pretty loud compared to other switches. The LED that indicates both if the switch is on (purple) and off (red) is very bright. Some may find an issue if used in a bedroom or other area where darkness is important. May need to be masked over.

Does the job
It's a surge protector I don't think I've had a surge but if I did it protected against it

Good purchase
I bought these to pair with the echo dot so I could turn on lights in a couple of hard to reach corners with the voice command. I purchased some different smart plugs a few months ago as a gift and the set-up wasn't terribly hard, just time consuming because the app kept telling me "try again, can't locate the device" In comparison, this smartplug was a breeze! I plugged it in, followed the directions in the Smartlife app, and was instantly connected. I'm so pleased with the ease of set-up and reasonable price. In addition, the design of this item doesn't crowd the other outlet the way some of the bulkier types do. I'll be purchasing more in the future if I find another use for them.
