Thermostat
Birdbath only heats the bowl if the temp is less than 35 degrees and it only keeps water from freezing over so it doesn’t heat the water to help the birds conserve energy. It’s still a pretty bowl

Best heated bird bath … period
Research for a while and yes there are less expensive heated bird baths but “you get what you pay for”. If you love bird action all year round this will not disappoint as the little feathered friends visit frequently as fresh water sources become scarce with winter. We put a small terra cotta tray in in the middle for the smaller birds as this bath is too deep for them. We like the look and sturdiness - must keep up with evaporating water

Works
It does what it’s supposed to doNot enough room underneath for a standard extension cord to plug in without kinking the cord

A favorite!
I have purchased several deck mounted heated birdbaths and this is the best of the bunch! The problem with others is that they didn’t sit level so the water was uneven and more shallow than needed. This birdbath fastens easily and firmly to my deck and, most importantly to me, it’s level! I believe It is a bit pricey ,but I enjoy providing a water supply through the cold months, too!

Going into our 2nd winter
We have this right outside our door on the deck railing and love watching our backyard wildlife using it. In winter I keep it plugged in and it has not frozen. The edges will get some frost build up from steam freezing near the lip, but only in extreme cold and not bad. After the risk of freezing is over we unplug it. I thought my husband would freak that we are "heating the outdoors" but nope. He lives watching the activity too. Our cardinals are regulars. The size is perfect for their baths & the feeder is close by. They had no trouble finding it. In summer I dump the old water on my flowers- usually daily. Then I fill it with the hose which gives it a good rinse & keeps it clean. An occasional good old clean too. The surface isn't slick. I think it might discolor if not kept up with, but we take good care of it

Best all.season birdbath
I just replaced the same onewhich I had for 7 winters. Anyelectrical item lasting that longspeaks to the quality. I tried anotherone that I could not mount onmy deck. Worth the money

Handsome, Sturdy, Larger Size Rail Birdbath
This deckrail-attached birdbath is attractive and of high quality. Its finish should stand up to storms and wind and the effects of intense sunlight without fading or becoming brittle. The interior birdbath diameter is 17 inches with a water depth of approximately 1 inch. The mounting bracket fits 4” and 6” rails, and is impressively strong. The birdbath bowl easily detaches from the bracket making it simple to clean and refill.Oh, and I almost forget (since it is about summertime!), the unit can be attached to an outdoor electrical cord to keep the water from freezing in winter. Haven’t tried that out yet! While more expensive than some, this unit is worth it. Highly recommended.

Fabulous
Purchased this bird bath over the summer and have loved it. It's a nice, solid, well constructed bird bath. Mounts easily and securely to the deck rail. Easy to clean and move if needed. My only concern is the heating element. We have finally started to get some cold weather here and I noticed the water in the bird bath was freezing, so I finally plugged it in. The heater definitely works. Maybe too well. It doesn't just keep it from freezing. It's warm. Very warm. Steam rises over it and wafts across the deck warm. That means the water evaporates very very quickly. I have to add water frequently because it evaporates so quickly. There is no way to regulate it, so I'll likely just leave it plugged in for portions of the day. Easy enough to do. Otherwise, it's great. The birds and squirrels love it and I love that I can sit on my deck and enjoy watching them.
