The Orthopedic Guys Adjustable Plantar Fasciitis Posterior Night Splint (Large)

Well Worth The Money! Great Quality!
This is the second night split I have purchased-the first from this company and it is THE BEST! I have battle Plantar fasciitis for two years. I first purchased a more expensive night split from Amazon and battled with it for months never able to sleep through the night or wear it for extended times. I finally gave up and ordered this one to see if I could find one to work with me as my foot doc felt it crucial to my recovery. I am SO happy I gave this one a chance even though it is a bit cheaper then the other popular splint on Amazon it is a better product. The Material: The material lining in the old splint was very uncomfortable and hot (I hate having my feet covered or hot when I sleep)--this brace is not like that! The gel-like cushion is very comfortable and my foot stays cool. It feels good on the bottom of my foot the entire night (other one material was too rough and started making the bottom of my foot hurt partway through the night due to the texture of the material so I'd need to remove it which interrupts your sleep). The same soft material is used on the strap cushion so all areas that touch your skin is soft and smooth.Large Calf Fitting: I have a very large calf (17" around)..and this fits comfortably. I was able to gently bend the outer edges to not cut into my calf and it works great.Ankle Bend/Heel Seating: The other splint I had had a bit more of a bend in the ankle area which caused my foot to always slip forward and not be seating in the heel area which defeats the purpose of the splint for the night. That made it very uncomfortable and I was constantly trying to get my heel seated (I even emailed the company and they sent me a foam wedge to place behind my heel which indicated to me that they knew there was a problem with their design but hadn't corrected it). This one has just the right bend to give me a stretch and allow me to have my ankle seated.I do not need a foam wedge to change the heel seating. My heel and entire foot seating is much more fitting in this brace. The Wedge: Lastly-the wedge. The "old splint" came with two wedges of different sizes...this splint came with one. I feel that is fine as you can adjust the straps to pulling your foot in more if you need even more of a stretch. I do find this wedge more comfortable-I believe it goes back to the shape of the splint (the bend is a tiny bit less)..which makes the wedge fit my foot better. The old splint with the odd fitting caused a pressure point to form on the bottom of my foot that was hot and hurt by 1/2 way through the night. I do not feel any pressure points with this splint's wedge. Again-I feel the slight change of angle of the brace is much better designed to alleviate pressure points and allow better seating of the heel and foot.Sleeping With It: I don't have any issues sleeping with it. Yes it took some getting used to--but once I did the reward for less pain when I wake up and through the next day is very much worth adjusting to sleeping with a brace on.Tips: Lastly some tips: you will have to make adjustments to the straps and side straps to find your perfect fit. Do not assume you'll be able to put it on and be done--you'll want to take some time fitting it to yourself comfortably. If your toes go to sleep, if your calf hurts..you need to adjust the pressure from the tension straps. Once you have it adjusted comfortably you'll be able to just release the buckles to put it on and off and not disturb your fitting. I do find after a week or so I might need to adjust it more-this could be either my foot has adjusted to the setting or the tossing and turning during sleep will loosen things up after a while. I did also find that the stretch feels better if I sleep on my back with my legs on a pillow-it seems to feel better in the morning. My foot doc said that way the stretch is most effective (with your leg straight not bent). In closing-for the price of this night split-you really can't go wrong! I have spent thousands of dollars treating my PF...this brace has become a vital part of my treatment program (the fact is that there is no 1 single answer to treating PF--stretching, icing, strengthening, proper shoes, proper arch support, no barefoot walking ever, weight loss, shots, and this brace have been my arsenal to allow me to live more normally with PF). Give it a chance-you may be pleasantly surprised!

I'm not able to wear it all night though since I like to sleep on my stomach
Helped greatly to relieve pain of plantar fasciitis. I'm not able to wear it all night though since I like to sleep on my stomach. I usually wake up during the night and pull it off. It was great to wear while Im sitting at my desk though and definitely does relieve the pressure and foot pain. Keeps my foot in the position it needs to be in to relieve muscle tension and pain.

Extremely Comfortable in helping stretch my feet with "Foot Drop"
Last summer I was hospitalized and developed Foot Drop / Dropped Foot. I have been in Physical therapy for the last 9 agonizing months, however my insurance has finally run out and I can no longer attend. My feet have begun to move however my physical therapist recommended I have night splints made for my feet to help keep them stretched. As of now they are very tight and won't bend less then 90 degrees. I do own AFOs which slip into my show and keep my feet at 90 degrees, but they are very uncomfortable and I don't enjoy wearing them as well as having shoes in bed is not desirable. I found these night splints which were less then $20 and are extremely comfortable, plus If needed I can walk on them. They are adjustable in that I can tighten the outside straps so that slowly I can begin to stretch my feet so they go up past 90 degrees. Also included is an added piece of foam I can slip under my feet for increased stretching.

Excellent Product
For the first time in four years I went through an entire work day without foot pain. I've been wearing these for a little over a month, and my feet are getting stronger every day. This brand is comfortable, easily adjustable, and not too hard to walk in if I suddenly have to get something. The only minor inconvenience is getting the blanket to cover my feet, but that's not something that warrants taking off a star.Just remember to start a bit loose, and gradually tighten them. Then you're good to go.

The wedge insert is really large and uncomfortable. Within minutes of using this, with and without the wedge, my toes fall asleep and my leg cramps. Even when loosening the straps significantly, I still cannot use this product. Sleeping with the weight and bulk is absolutely impossible.

Very helpful if worn nightly!
This has helped a lot with my plantar fasciitis. I use it nightly and it stretches the plantar fascia throughout the night and I don't have to spend the first 10 min I wake up doing stretches any longer! It's adjustable and includes a wedge as well. My podiatrist recommended this type of night splint and I have recommended it to many people as well!

I must have too tight of calf muscles, because no matter how I try to adjust it my heal tries to slide up. I find that less of a problem while reclined and reading/watching instead of sleeping. Still fighting the plantar fasciitis too.

Not shaped right
It probably does what's it's suppose to, but the calf part is very narrow, almost as if it was for a kid.
