USE HEAVY DUTY ADHESIVE
I love tolex, it's a cool material that I always wanted to use. So I decided that I would use it on my home arcade machine I built. I bought the recommended 3M spray adhesive, and went to town applying the paper to the exterior of the cabinet. It looked awesome, until it de-laminated. Now I am very willing to blame myself for this, it could easily be that I didn't install it correctly or use the adhesive correctly, and to date the paper itself hasn't degraded or torn at all. I recommend a STRONG adhesive as I didn't have the results I wanted. The paper wasn't the issue. Where it was tucked under a nailed edging it stayed where put and looks good.

Actually, I didn't buy the black Tolex.
I bought the tweed Tolex. Used it to re-cover a Fender Ultra Chorus amplifier, and it looks terrific! Quality fabric, easy to work with.

Perfect match for 1978 Fender Bassman ten
I’m stoked!! I purchased this to rehab a 1978 Fender Bassman 10 amplifier that was purchased new for me by my dad. Admittedly it has been neglected (and minorly abused) but mostly neglected. It hasn’t been powered up in @ 21 years. The other day I switched it on, the tubes all glowed orange. I plugged it into an external 4X10 cabinet ( the internal speakers are totally dry-rotted) and proceeded to shake the house. This Tolex is a 100% PERFECT MATCH to what’s on my amp. It looks like it could’ve come off the same roll. I only need to replace a patch of about 18 X 24 that somehow was cut up. But this stuff is a smokin match! I’m very very pleased!!

worked just dandy
I was missing the top back cover on an older Fender tube amp. I wanted to try and make it myself and the Tolex was the proper type for the job. I have enough to do two back panels. If you use contact cement (spray on), be careful because the Tolex can get a bit curly and soft. Best to let both things dry a bit. I was applying over 1/4 birch plywood.

Tolex Amplifier Fabtric
Rubberized amplifier fabric used to enclose the back of an open back guitar amplifier. Stretched the fabric over 5/8 article board cut to fit opening with space left for cooling. Fabric was stapled in place and folded at the corners. Fabric matches what was there and should be durable. 5/8 board was attached to a frame I built around the inside of the opening.
