PERFECT FOR A THICK MATTRESS
Hard to find in Amazon under blanket lifters, but the best!! I just don't like the pressure on my feet, extending them. I have Plantar Fasciitis and I don't like the extension of my feet at night, and prefer a more 90 degree position of my feet, not 130 degree. I looked at other units, cheaper, and they were just not good quality, and had to return, but this one is GREAT!! We have a very thick mattress (13") and needed more height than others could provide. In addition, the other one had some thumb nut screws that would slide with pressure, making it useless (sent back, still waiting on a credit btw). This one, on the other hand, it built very well, sturdy, easy to put together, and easy to adjust. That being said you will need either a small open end wrench (preferred) or pair of pliers to hold the nut while tightening with a Phillips head screwdriver. They have a nice inset on the side for the nut (inside) and only has 4 nuts and bolts for assembly - takes about 5 minutes. I grade the instructions a D, as the description and pictures not linked well. They should show better close-up pictures of the assembly. I actually prefer the large nuts to the inside, although they show them to the outside. My instincts said inside, and it has absolutely no effect on the function. So while they have some very nice written instructions, and it show the basic assembly on how it fits together, not a typical step by step with photos linking the instructions. That being said, anyone with a modicum of common sense can put this together. I placed it under the mattress, adjusted and had a great night sleep. I love this unit and it is the ONLY one I would purchase. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, especially if you need one for a thick mattress.

Great for keeping blankets off toes/feet
Because I have trouble sleeping with blanket pressure on my toes/feet at night, I initally ordered a 20" blanket support on Amazon (the "Essential Aluminum Blanket Support Bar"). However, with my mattress thickness (12"), the support bar was not quite high enough for me (I wear US 8 & ½ shoes). I needed the bar to be a couple of inches higher. For that reason, I ordered this blanket support that adjusts up to 31.5".This version works very well for my size mattress. Its lowest adjustment is 24.5", which is a couple of inches higher than I need, but it does not really matter. It is fairly easy to adjust. You push, and hold in, a button on each side to allow the top bar to slide up or down. It is also very sturdy. The price was higher than I would have liked, but I could not find any others to raise up this much. (If you have smaller feet and/or a thinner mattress, you might look at the "Essential Aluminum Blanket Support Bar," which is still expensive but a little cheaper. To adjust it you need a screwdriver.)

Worthless
I liked the idea of a strong blanket support to keep the weight of blankets off of my sensitive feet. This item just flat out doesn't work! First, with the bottom wedged between the box springs and the mattress I tried to make it short enough to keep it off of my feet without lifting all of the blankets off of my feet, legs, and body. Seemed like it was at least 15- 16 inches higher than the top of the bottom sheet. Much too high! Then I tried to set on the floor to extend it to it's highest length and it ended too short at about 2 inchs above the bottom sheet. Either I don't understand how to make this item work or it just doesn't work period!Working with the adjustment buttons on this thing was very difficult.

Well-made, but didn't work on either of my beds.
I have two custom-made platform beds; one in my primary residence and one in my secondary residence. They are simple platforms; nothing exotic. One has an adjustable bed one it, the other one does not.The Adjustable Blanket Support does not work on either platform. It is too tall for one and too short for the other. Regrettably (for me) I was not able to try the Support on the second bed until the day after the return window closed, so the local thrift store will get it.It is indeed well made and sturdy, as other reviewers have noted. Even if it had fit, I probably wouldn't have used it though because one would have to make the bed more or less from scratch every morning and un-make it every evening, which is a hassle. Or leave it with a big lump at the foot of the bed, which in my opinion is unsightly. If it were designed to be easier to raise and lower, that would mitigate this problem a bit.

Excellent Design and Construction - Badly flawed final paint finish.
I dislike "ho-hum" reviews and usually only give one or five stars to a product. For this product, anyone considering a purchase needs to be aware of one single but major problem. This product has an excellent Design and Construction, it is very well packaged, and it works perfectly once it is assembled. The problem is in the final paint finish which I assume is a powder coating process. It is very badly flawed because the paint covering is much too thick for the close fit tolerances for which the product was originally designed. It has 8 places where the metal fits together one inside another and I am certain fit together very easily without the final paint coating. The problem for the final user is that the paint is too thick and even closes several of the holes designed for the four bolts to hold the device together. When trying to adjust the height, the thickness of the paint makes the pieces VERY difficult to fit together easily. My suggestion is for the manufacturer/seller to more closely review the painting thickness or provide some kind of lubricant and instruction for those like myself who were very frustrated during assembly. I finally decided to give it four stars because the product does provide a great way to keep the sheet/covers off my feet. I have a 14 inch memory foam mattress and 12 inch feet and the support was way more than adequate. It is an excellent product if you do not mind being a little frustrated during assembly.
