Cancer Cure!
This is one of the finest books I have ever read in my life! Throughly researched, immaculately documented and written with such creative skill which stands as a quite rare combination in todays publishing world. This story is totally engrossing and stands as a bright beacon of light to the life, struggle and ultimate triumph of Harry Hoxsey over the "High Priests of Medicine" who rule over the AMA, FDA and halls of power in our government. The Bible tells us that "the love of money is the root of all evil", and nowhere is that truth more evident than in the medical industry who seem to value money, power and prestige over the lives and well being of their fellow human beings. That is an absolute shame before God.With my mother having been diagnosed recently with pancreatic cancer (one of the most deadly types), I have tried to read and research as much as I possibly can on the various types of treatments and their success rates. The traditional treatments offer very little hope and the side effects are simply devastating-especially chemo and radiation. Let these oncologists shoot that demonic poison into their own veins, I say.Near the end of the book, Ausubel writes that Hoxsey, near the end of his life, lamented that he "could have beaten" those very men that had opposed and persecuted him and his natural treatment for cancer-the scourge of the century. Well Mr. Hoxsey, every time you helped heal one of your patients while your were alive and every time a patient goes to the Bio-Medical Clinic in Mexico, uses your tonic and gets healed you do beat them! Even after nearly 40 years of your passing you have won and continue to baffle the foolish men that seek to hinder and hide God's natural healing methods- all without the horrific side-effects of man-made "medicines."Bravo Mr. Hoxsey and bravo Kenny Ausubel for writing such an important and enlightening book. Should be made into a maxi-series for TV. That would shake up the cancer industry a bit, I would think. If I had cancer, this is what I would do: Hoxsey tonic, vegan diet and hydrobaric chamber (oxygen) therapy. The rest is in God's Hands.

A Very Impressive Book with One Fatal Flaw
I was in most respects very impressed by this book. Ausubel did a great deal of meticulous research in order to tell the complete story of Harry Hoxsey's (and his successor's) efforts to bring his cancer remedy to mankind. He is a very careful, conscientious investigative jounalist. Ausubel puts the story in the context of a centuries-long war between allopathic and empiric medicine. He covers all of the bases and is extremely informative. Ausubel is also a fine, clever writer. Having said all of this, it is very tempting to give the book 5 stars. I would except Ausubel ultimately makes one mistake which detracts from his great history and analysis.Despite all of the evidence of how corrupt the medical establishment is and the degree to which the regulators have derailed promising alternatives, Ausubel still pins his hope on bureaucrats conducting or overseeing valid medical research which will ultimately determine the appropriate direction for cancer treatment. However, central planning never works, not in the Soviet Union and not in determining medical practice in the U.S. While Ausubel does give it some exposure, he does not enthusiastically endorse the only practical solution to advancing the state of medicine: a genuine free market, where patients can go to whatever type of doctor they want to and use any type of treatment they choose. And where insurance companies are allowed to decide which types of treatments they will or will not cover, whether "orthodox" or alternative. Only medical freedom will allow encouraging alternatives to thrive and for advances in treatments to replace protocols which are seriously lacking. What about quackery you say? Well, many of the treatments in use today are quackery by any objective standard, so we are not talking about some dreadful contingency, but the reality of today's regulated system / protection racket. And given complete freedom, we would see independent labs conduct their own investigations to determine which treatments to recommend and certify, much as we have organizations like Consumer's Union and Underwriters Laboratories doing in their domains.

Government Collusion with Business spells disaster
This is an impressively researched book that ought to be required reading. Cancer has long been a cottage industry ruled by profit. AMA, FDA, Justice Dept. are all in bed together, and the American people are all the poorer for it. Hocksey's tonic for internal cancer and his salve for surface cancer are still as good or better than anything offered today after billions of dollars have been burned trying to perfect something that will turn a tidy profit for the medical industrial, pharmaceutical corporatocracy that rules medical "science." The U. of Chicago should be ashamed of itself for deifying Morris Fishbein (not to mention Milton Freedman). Read this book and learn what may save your life should you contact the cancer that we now know beyond doubt is environmental in origin. Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, just announced last week that cancer research needs to be profit based. They don't even bother trying to hid their scams anymore. this book is worth reading for its excellent scholarship and to learn how medical "science" took a left turn way back in the 1920's and never recovered. Sad sad story and it is our story, all of ours, as we all know someone very personally who has been butchered and gouged for that butchering which only shortened their life and made a more horrific end than it had to be. If Hocksey were still practicing, or someone allowed to carry on what he started with his holistic, herb-based work, I have no doubt many millions of people would be happier and healthier today.

This is far more than a book about Hoxsey. Hoxsey is used as a prism through which to view the whole of the American (and thus the world's) medical system. The amount of research done is absolutely staggering and the stories gradually unfold to create one big story: Medical monopoly that has turned us all into sick serfs with all access to the only real medicine: natural medicine, legally denied. Yes it IS one big conspiracy but this book meticulously shows where all the bodies are buried and who pulled the triggers of the smoking guns. Everything is substantiated.

Incredible story.
I bought this after accidently stumbling across the documentary online. That was an incredible watch. The book is even better. Hard to believe Hollywood hasn't made this into a film yet but I guess it's only a matter of time. Deserves far more reviews.

Excellent read. Would very much recommend
Content of book beyond exceeded my expectation. Excellent read. Would very much recommend. The book itself was obviously used. As the cover was slightly worn, and someone had underlined text in the book. Nonetheless I am so grateful to own this book.
