Update: User error! Love this item.
My apologies to the manufacturer/seller. As I was packing this item for return believing It was defective, I found the small on button previously over-looked as I was not wearing my glasses and it is black. It is covered and only revealed when the safety cover is pushed forward. Before cancelling pick-up, I tried it out on paper and a candle and it works just as advertised. I am happy with having a rechargeable device and would recommend this item.

Great lighter, great seller.
Before I was giving 2 stars on my review, as the lighter sometimes works, sometimes not. I always need to charge it many times to make it working again. But the seller replaced my lighter, with no need returning the one I have. I was very happy with the new one. It works really well (see my pictures) I hope it helps you to decide before buying. Worth of money. Great quality. However, the seller is really friendly and responsible for the unsatisfaction of the customers. Great seller!

Great lighter with terrible instructions
This is very effective for lighting candles and is easier to use than butane lighters. We are planning on ordering another one for use upstairs. One problem is that the instructions are not easy to read and are not right. If you follow the directions you cannot get it to work (at lleast I counln't). You need to slide up the switch cover and then push the button that is uncovered.

Great for lighting candles
This thing is really cool.The SO loves to burn candles, and I was getting tired of throwing away disposable gas lighters.My big concern was whether it would have enough "oomph" to light candles easily. It does. It actually works better than a "regular" lighter.Can't really comment on durability as I've only had it for a month or so. I think we've charged it once during that time.It's a little more difficult to clean if/when you get wax on the tip, but that's not a biggie.The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the USB charging port was slightly misaligned with the hole when I got it, and I put a small scratch on the plastic when I was trying to attach the cord for the first time. Covered the scratch with a Sharpie, and now it's not noticeable unless you're looking. Nit-picky, I know.Would definitely recommend.

Is to easy to overcharge. No automatic charging shutoff will ruin it.
We were looking forward to this device as we live on a boat and all propane appliances need to be manually lit (Lighter or BBQ lighter). The butane lighters don't last long. Even the refillable ones fail to ignite after awhile. This product would hopefully replace the need for butane and would maybe have a bit more longevity. Unfortunately it will not hold a charge overnight. We have monitored its charging so as to not overcharge it but, after a day of use (maybe 5-7 uses) the next morning it is dead. We would've settled for a replacement but, the fact that in this day and age we have to make sure we unplug it as soon as the light goes out so as to not overcharge it and thus ruin its life expectancy is ridiculous.

Works great. One of its kind
This is first of its kind I am using. This is different from gas lightets in bettet ways. Tested lighting my gas range and wirks great. Tried burning kitchen paper and it did burn, I was just curious.I will see how long this runs on each charge. Time will tell.

Some issues....
It works some of the time. For whatever reason it will not always light when you press the button. I found you need to pinch the electrodes together while pressing the button for it to light. This is an endless source of frustration for others. I’m now looking for a traditional refillable lighter for the house.

Great idea, not durable enough
Ok, I really wanted to like this product. After all, it has a great WOW factor. I thoroughly enjoyed it for a few months before it melted into an unusable state. The design just doesn’t work. The area around the electrical arc is made out of PLASTIC. It can’t handle the heat required to light several candle wicks at a time, so before long, the thing melts and you can’t use it anymore. Great idea though. I suggest that the manufacturer make this out of a more durable and heat-tolerant material.
