slumber part massacre 2

This movie is less significant for its content than for it is for its place in Hollywood history.
If you take Slumber Party Massacre II or its predecessor at face value then you get what seems like the worst 80s misogynistic horror movie where cruelty and violence to women abound. A trope infused into the mainstream when Hitchcock had a psychotic motel owner stab beautiful Janet Leigh in a shower. The movie seems like blatant exploitation churned out by the Roger Corman factory of sex and violence. Pushing what is considered "harmless fun".But now take the fact that the writer/director of SPM2 is a woman, Deborah Brock, and suddenly you have something deeper at play. The movie's black comedy may fall with a thud when it comes to laughs but becomes a punch to the heart if the curtain is thrown back to reveal the deep and tragic feminine denial in the era of Reagan.SPM2 is what a woman believes men want to see. You could almost set a watch to the pace in which nudity is followed by bloodshed. The killer, a prescient vision of Andrew Dice Clay, is an Elvis wannabe whose weapon of choice is a guitar-drill. A cinematic phallic symbol if there ever was one. This movie is less significant for its content than for it is for its place in Hollywood history. It is quite simply, a woman trying to break a glass ceiling by using only the stones given to her by an industry run by toxic masculinity and the 80’s culture of devaluing women.

Well... they got the "slumber" part right. Yawn.
I didn't expect much from this film, but somehow it still disappointed me. The ghost of Andrew Dice Clay torments a group of stupid, annoying teenagers. His weapon of choice: A giant homemade guitar-drill. But his killing spree doesn't officially start until the end of the movie. First, the audience has to suffer through a TON of bad music and pointlessly dumb dream sequences. Aside from the monster zit scene, there's really nothing redeeming here. When the kills FINALLY start happening, they're very generic and unsatisfying. The gore effects are okay I suppose, but they're limited in quantity. There's a tiny bit of topless nudity, but there should be loads more. Avoid!

This is an epic slasher/ musical
It's got it all, even a music video. Sure, it's a little slow, but there's nothing else like it, and it's not comparable to the first. I don't know what these other reviewers expected. You can't bash a classic campy horror. There's legitimately great horror films like Halloween, and then there's the best of the rest: this. I've seen so much worse for early 80s horror. These other guys just don't know. If you like slashers, you gotta see it.

Why was this made?
It's vastly different from the first movie for all the wrong reasons. There was no clear plan going into this movies production, but if this was the intended story then wtf. The funny parts aren't funny and the kills are very basic. I thought some of the main characters hallucinations were interesting though. Given that, SPOILER ALERT, the killer dies in the first movie, this one should have been more like a Nightmare on Elm Street rip-off. The killer escapes from hell with a newfound interest in the Rockabilly style and and that sweet drill-guitar. He causes all weird stuff to happen to the victims, like the pimple sequence. It's not like they didn't have money for it. There was product placement in almost every shot. I wish this movie was creative with what it had.

I liked it less boeing and better than the first
So fresh off the first Slumber Party Massacre. Which I though was pretty hohum. I definitely found this one way better than the first Slumber Party Massacre. The first suffered from budget limitations and a warped script, although if you ask me the main issue was the budget that made it beyond freaking boring. This one is far more complex and bit more interesting as I expected. It appear to borrow from Nightmare on Elm Street with the affected younger sister of the chick in the first having nightmares about the driller killer......where in the first it was some lame escape patient who looked boring had no presence and murder weapon of choice was a construction drill. They in the second one fluffed him up. Now he is a Elvis wannabe guy with an evil laugh and a electric guitar with the drill. I must say the guy playing really had a lot of fun and energy he breaks out in musicals and dances as he kills these dumb teenagers. Much to my delight. Feels more campy because of this tho. Also for all the "love hot naked girls nudity fans". This movie might as well been PG-rated. Unlike the first there is one topless moment and there are A-cups lol. There is more teaser moments than anything.3.2 stars

Man, The Cheese Factor Is Off The Charts!
Part 1 was 10 times the movie of part 2. I thought this movie would closely resemble the 1st offering. The killing happened right away in part 1 and part 2 was like the final 20 minutes. Most of the movie was cheesy in trying to build up to that point, but there was no real building up. I almost regret watching this flick, but I enjoyed part 1 so much that I'll chalk it up to evening out. There were no real redeeming scenes in this movie to want to ever watch it again, sorry to say.
