Stone Coat Countertops Epoxy Kit 1/2 Gal

My old (1940s) house came with a large two-tub concrete utility sink that had developed an annoying slow leak. Removal and replacement cost for a new (smaller) plastic utility sink was over $500, so I cleaned up the old cement (used Eco-Etch Pro Concrete Etcher and Cleaner), thoroughly dried the sink (including the drain pipe), mixed the Stone Coat Epoxy as instructed (resin heated to 80F, mixed 1-1 with hardener, throroughly mixed with a plastic paddle stirrer and electric drill). It took about a pint of mixed epoxy for each tub (applied with a 2" brush), so about a quart overall. The very slow setting time made it easy, although I was a little nervous when it was still "tacky" after 24 hours. I used an electric heat gun (not recommended propane torch) for bubble removal, and it worked fine. (Maybe need the extra heat from a propane torch for a thicker epoxy layer?) Also worth noting that I put a rag on a wire and used it to coat the inside of the drain pipe to catch any cracks where the cement joins the drain. After 5 days I ran the washing machine (pumps out to the utility sink) with no leaks, and after 7 days I did a full-tub test with no leaks.Couldn't be more pleased with the result -- the epoxy is hard and slick, so the tub cleans out much easier than the old rough cement surface, and since the epoxy lays flat and level the tub even drains better. On top of that I saved over $500 and expect the refurbished utility sink to last another 80 years.

Love the look but it’s too delicate for me, I mean I have to be very careful not to ruin it :/

Easy to use less bubbles, but takes 24 hours to dry

Before and after pics. Kitchen had 70's yellow counter tops. We decided to use this and do the spray pattern and holy cow!!! You'd never know this wasn't done professionally. Super easy so long as you follow the instructions and don't get in a rush. It will take time but we did this about 2 months ago and it's holding up fabulously! If you to save some $ and do it yourself, this absolutely the way to go and no one will know it wasn't professionally done!
