Well designed
Bought to cover ceiling lights protruding into the loft as I’m upgrading the insulation. Good quality moulding and a good size ensuring the light won’t overheat. Pre cut slots for cables mean very easy to fit. Stuck down with a little No More Nails and they are well held in place

Solved my cold down drafts
I bought 2 of these for 2 down lights I had fitted over kitchen sink area. The insulation had been pulled back from around the down lights when I fitted them The roof is a cold roof system ( Always air flowing over top of insulation for roof ventilation) and every time we opened the patio Door to Kitchen extension, a cold jet of air could be felt coming down through the down lights, especially on windy days, I fitted these hoods and problem cured. I wanted to make sure I had and air tight seal, so initially planned to seal them in place with Pinkgrip SF adhesive, but when I offered the hood in place at first, to see how it fitted, I notice that the fixing clips on my downlights are almost the same width as the internal diameter of the hood, so couldn't be sure that the hood would be clear of the fixing clips if I ever had to remove the lights for any reason. Decided to use a strong double sided Tape on the bottom Face of the hood instead ( just cut small sections of tape and stuck it right around) and sealed the cable entry with a piece of Gaffa tape stuck over it. All insulation now put back in place and a piece over the top of the hood for good measure. No more cold air coming into the kitchen through the down lights when Patio door is opened, and I guess no warm air seeping up through the lights either. Will be buying a couple more shortly for couple of lights in upstairs bedroom

Way too large,
These are relatively large, for my setup they did not fit. Sticking up between the joist by atleast 1 inch.

Good sturdy product
Bought 30 of these hoods. Our bulbs are MR16s and I have placed the transformers outside the hood. I have since replaced the Halogen bulbs with LEDs, so less of a need for the hoods. However, made laying the insulation over the top more straightforward. I didn't fix the hoods down, the insulation keeps them seated well anyway.
