Gear Up sets are composed of several types of components. The component types include stable gears, structure blocks, motorized gears, and aesthetic pieces. The gears pieces work together to create elaborate spiraling patterns and enable children to experiment with mobile design and locomotion. The structure blocks are the basis for the gear blocks, giving the gears a place to fasten onto. And the aesthetic pieces are like the cherry on top of a Sunday, exploring the visually pleasing aspects of design, and helping to build on the creative minds of children. Kids can create anything from motorized tops to arm waving robots; the possibilities are endless. Aside from the sheer conceptual benefits of Gear Up stands the quality of the toy’s construction. The toy sets are designed for all ages, so the gears are both durable and safe. The rounded edges of the pieces ensure that no child gets hurt playing with a piece, and the durable materials of the pieces ensure that that no piece gets hurt playing with a child. Additionally, Gear Up toy sets are intuitive and easy-to-use. Pieces just snap together, allowing the creative process of any child to proceed unhindered. These values of depth of education, quality of materials, and ease of use meld together to help any child succeed in the 21st century

Hours of fun!
Bought for grandsons who love duplo/legos. My husband and our 4.5 year old were a bit daunted when the opened the box. After some discussion they started creating. My grandson was so excited to show me what they built. They built several different things and had a GREAT time!

Great for even a 4 yrs. old
I purchased Wonder Gears for my 4 yr. old grandson. He took to it right away. The set needs a bit of adult help when starting the gears in relationship to where the battery is located. But after that it's up to the child's imagination. The pieces are easy to assemble and disassemble. And they have vibrant colors and a variety of shapes and sizes. This has so much potential that I will buy a 2nd set so that he can invent even more configurations.

Very cheap and disappointing.
I was looking forward to receiving my order of the wonder gears. Since we had already an incomplete set with blocks and gears but no swings and motor, I thought that these ones will be compatible with the set that we have, but I was very disappointed. They are made different and and absolutely can't be combined. The quality is bad. The plastic is very thin and flimsy. The pieces are rough around the edges and hard to put together. I got frustrated while trying to assemble the pieces together because the quality is so cheap. My 3 yr old can't even play with it, the pieces are so hard to snap into place. The plastic is not sturdy and that makes it hard to assemble. The set is rather small. The only positive thing is that the figurines are cute and the motor does work.

Great Toy, could be even greater with some adjustments
First of all, my 3.5 year old son and I loved Wonder Gears. It really is educational, boosts creativity, intriguing and fun. Gets him thinking and doing and redoing. However, I have to take lots of care with my younger baby, since there are small parts that are a choking hazard, and 3-4 year olds still aren't the best at cleaning up and keeping things together. But I still think its worth it since it gets my son away from the TV and doing something more interesting. My only two issues with the product (which are the reason why I left out the fifth star) are:1) The red connectors sometimes demand some force to fit into the gears and may break easily. The parts are not easy to assemble and seem a bit light and flimsy. It makes me think that an upgrade in the type and firmness of the plastic might be a huge improvement.2) The stickers are beautiful but if you put them on the gears, it covers up the little holes and prevents that piece from being used in a different arrangement and the fun part is taking it apart and making something different. So I haven't let my son use the stickers. It would be interesting to think of a solution for that.If these adjustments where made, making the toy last longer, I would even pay more for this toy.

Kid friendly.
This was my second time to purchase the gears. I have 6 year old twin grandsons. They liked the first set so much, I ordered the second box so they'd have more to work with. The gears really brought out their creativity.

They love them and are very creative with how they use ...
I purchased one set for a grandchild last year. He asked for more this year. I bought two sets and a daughter bought him another set. So he has a total of 4 sets. They love them and are very creative with how they use these tools. These are great toys.

Very cheaply made. Pieces are very thin and flimsy. Not a good product for young children

Concept is good, but product is not for little kids!
I got this for my 8 yr old girl who loves to fiddle and create. She LOVED the product, BUT she could not put or pull off the pieces to move them around. It was hard for me as an adult to move them! They are so tight on the base that you need a flat-head screwdriver to remove them once they are place. Therefore, for a child to play alone with this is not possible unless they have finger strength of steel! THEN, the motor is not strong enough to move most of the the gears! It can move about 2 combinations and after that, it just spins its wheels. I was afraid we would burn up the motor, so we instructed the child to only use two combinations. This really defeats the purpose of the motor being on there, since the "joy" is seeing the gears all turn and re-arranging them so they move around. I got two sets of these and we have not bothered to even open the 2nd one. We were disappointed with our end result with this.
