Alerted me to flooding in basement as required
I've bought five of these over the last 18 months. They are easy to set up as long as you have a 2.4GHz network available. It occasionally takes a while to connect but usually gets there. I've only once had to start from scratch. The one I keep in the cellar alerted me that water was coming in on a particularly rainy day and I was able to move things out of the way before anything got wet. I have others under the bathtub where the shower pump is, behind the washing machine by the waste pipe, in the downstairs WC. I keep one in reserve for any time I do any plumbing work in the house having had a few disasters. The network disconnected alert is useful, although annoying when it wakes you in the middle of the night given that it usually reconnects itself. I have this turned on for all except the most remote. The oldest one I have is 18 months old and I still haven't replaced the batteries.

Great idea, But needs work
Greetings. It took me about 4 hours to pair with the app. I have loads of wifi strip plugs so I know what I'm doing. When I finally paired it and set it up, and go into settings I see that you have to have paid plan to receive text alerts. The alarm when it goes off is really quite you would have to be in the same room to hear it. This was going to be used for my aquariums. I would have needed at least 4 more. not now. AVOID.Ok. I am now being bribed to remove my review it started with £10 and then £15 amazon gift card and when I block them someone else emails me with the same request to my home email account. I WROTE A HONEST REVIEW OF MY OPPINION OF THE ITEM. Update. I'm being pestered by “customer agents for an amazon seller.” They have now offered me £25 and its now gone to £40 in amazon gift cards to remove my review.

Cost effective easy to use wifi connected water leakage detector
These 'soap tablet' sized water leakage detectors are very easy to install into home automation systems such as Google Home and Alexa. The devices are sold as a pair and are added to the device monitor inventory using the Smart Life App.You have to provide and install two AAA batteries by separating the two halves of the device's plastic body - this is achieved by an anti-clockwise twist of the top half. It is awkward to execute the turn because the construction material is smooth and challenging to grip - placing the device between the palms of your hands and squeezing the device between your palms, and twisting the top anti-clockwise works, but success does depend on the friction between your palms and the device body - sweaty palms do not help!! When connecting the device with Smart Life, I found the slow flashing method worked, which requires you to wifi connect the device rather than the fact flashing method, which sounds quicker/easier in theory, has never worked for any Smart Life device I have tried to install. To use the slow flashing method, you will need to be able to power off the device (temporarily remove and replace the battery and press a reset button on the device circuit board, so don't close the device after inserting the batteries until you have installed it in Smart Life. Closing the case is the reverse of opening but make sure you position the top correctly, so the lugs are offset to the left of the retaining lugs in the lower half - the two halves come together nicely if you position them correctly before twisting the upper half clockwise to lock. There is a sort of a waterproof seal between the two halves, but in no way am I confident that it is good enough to protect the internal electronics from total immersion in water for more than 30 seconds (not prepared to test this for fear of destroying a device! The device has two sensing metal probes sticking out of the bottom, and there are small lugs on the base plate that slightly raise the device off the floor. The device alarms when water touches both of the metal probes issuing an alert to Smart Life, and an internal audible alarm sounds as long as there is water touching the probes. Very simple indeed! You can add the device(s) to Google Home and Alexa via the Smart Life App.The detectors are well built and lightweight. They are not suited for emersion in water but perfectly suitable for placing in areas in danger of flooding. Battery life depends on the type of battery used, so it is not practical to give any assessment. The cost is competitive though, to be honest, what is provided is hardly worth £16 per detector given the very rudimentary electronics, a battery holder, audible alarm, and a cheap plastic case - probably a unit cost of £1.50 or even less - quite a markup, but it works and is perhaps the most inexpensive wifi leakage detector you can buy (especially on Amazon.co.uk!).If you want a water level high/low detector that can be submersible take a look at 'Wifi water Level Sensor.'

Works
Mine came with 2 in each box. Got 4 piecee for my dishwasher, washer dryer, fridge and main water tank/machine. Frustrating getting it to connect to my phone app so after so many tries, I stopped. Still works without the app I think.

Water leak sensor
A nice little compact sensor. A bit struggle to open the lids. That's understandable because it has to be water proof. Once it is open, accessible to the battery and set up button. Easy to set up if you Follow the instructions step by step. Scan the QR code to install the HBN App. Sign up and you are ready to go. Make sure your router is in 2.5GHz setting. The pairing is straight forward. Tested the sensor, which is far from the router and through walls and floors, it worked. One good point to note is the sensor continue to work if jo one attend to the water leaks. The siren continue to sound for few seconds at very 5 minutes interval. It is reasonably loud, high pitch. Good product. Battery is easily replaceable.

Unable to hold wi-fi connection-Returned
Two stars because the alarms are very neat & easy to position but that's the only positives I'm afraid. The alarm is not very loud & I spent an age trying to connect to my wi-fi to then find I was unable to reconnect my computer to wi-fi after disconnecting my 5ghz, (then I got a warning on my wi-fi 'Channel 124 is a DFS channel Are you sure you want to use this channel?' - that's a whole other story! talk about a headache!!) I then start to try to sort out the app for sms notifications but it shows an option to buy??? I didn't even find out how much, is it a one off or subscription? I was trying to set it up with my number to find this out, then I noticed one of the alarms was offline, thought I'll sort later, carried on messing with the app, for which I was unable to find any assistance then the other alarm went offline & that's when I gave in. I'm not a technophobe & have set up wireless cameras around my home & connected to my phone without any problem but I gave up with this after wasting most of the day & pulling my hair out!! I've returned & have bought 3 alarms with a very loud alarm for £3 less which will do until I find a system that is more reliable & easy to set up.
