Kids, don't try this at home unless you have a LOT of time
I recently had a Therma-Tru fiberglass double front door set installed, along with door jams and sidelights. I ordered this stain kit because it is recommended in the Therma-Tru catalog.Bottom line is that this product should NOT be named "Same Day" Stain Kit, but rather, "Same Day Plus The Next Day Plus One or Two Days After" Stain Kit.I have stained wood doors before, but was a little hesitant to take on fiberglass. These doors are advertised as being "stainable," and this product is in the door manufacturer's catalog, so I went ahead. I watched the staining video multiple times, and carefully read the instructions that came with the kit. Based on the assumption that this really was a "same day" project, I opened the kit and started. Actually, I would have been okay with a 2-day project, but 2 days would not have been nearly enough.Per the instructions, I stained one of the two sample fiberglass pieces included in the kit. I waited the prescribed time, and then wiped the piece with a cleaning cloth. The result was a piece that was only LIGHTLY STAINED! Based on this, I estimate that it would take 3-4 applications to get the stain coat anywhere near the depth of color shown in the online ads.Since you have to wait 2-4 hours for each coat to dry, the staining process itself for 4 coats would take 6-12 hours, and then an additional 6 hours would be required for the stain to dry before applying the seal coat. That comes to 12-18 hours, bringing the max total to 24 hours, or 3 work days. But that isn't all. Before starting on the doors, you have at least a day of prep work to do, even on brand new doors. There is a lot of masking, cleaning work to be done. Plus, you have to remove all of the weather seals on the door set, and then re-install them after everything is thoroughly dry.I am now out $94.99 for the partly-used stain kit, and we are on to "Plan B," which is to have the doors painted. If you have a lot of time on your hands, then you might want to give this a shot, but otherwise you may want to think twice.

Final result was exsellent.
The finished product looks really nice. Very rich dark mahogany. We have a fiberglass thermatru door that is 13 years old. We have refinished twice. First coat went on well. Second coat was not as good and was applied at the appropriate time and per the directions. Had to do a third coat. The end result is the very durable and low maintenance fiberglass door looks like a fine mahogny door. What is not disclosed until you buy this stain and sealer the life of the ingredients are limited to about a year or so. it may last longer but as much work as this is you will probably not want to risk. pretty expensive for what you are getting and to do only one door. Takes longer to do than they say.

Good Results
This works well. I have a Jeld Wen fiberglass door that had the original factory finish, the door is about 12 years old. I did not want to strip it so just gave the original finish a light sanding with 200 grit paper, then cleaned off all of the dust. From that point you basically follow the included instructions with the kit. I worked on the door and side lights a few hours each day until finished, it was a long process, but the end result was very good. The kit is a little overpriced but again the end result was worth it.

Good kit, but a tad pricey
Used to refinish a ThermaTru external door. Stain and clear coat worked well. Way overpriced for what is basically some cheap brushes and small cans of stain and varnish. Otherwise, 5 stars.

Great product
While it is a tedious process, the door turned out great looking. This is a quality product.

Correct product for Therma Tru door
Used this product to refinish our Therma Tru Mahogany door. It is same kit we used originally to finish the door in 2004. The door was refinished with another stain and top coat between the first time and this time - not good. That stain hid the fiberglass wood pattern and the top coat turned a milky white in the direct sun. (We live in S. California and the door gets a lot of direct sun.) We stripped the door all the way down and applied this product. It looks great and it correct product for the Therma Tru door.

Update on 1 star review
Happy to report that after opening the can of Mahogany stain it is indeed the correct color and the color tiles included were incorrect. See photos. Giving 3 stars for the panic that ensued when we first saw the incorrect tiles 😫
