Stranger Things: The Tomb of Ybwen (Graphic Novel)

Very heart warming story. Loved it.

I really liked the graphics in this novel! The boys are on an adventure in a snow storm trying to find hidden treasure left by Bob Newby. Will's mom's boyfriend who died left a map behind when he was a teenager and Will is determined to figure it out. Bob was a great addition to this story and is missed by the boys and Will's mom so Will feels like he needs to do this for Bob. Loved this one!

I've found the quality of the Stranger Things expanded universe stories to be hit and miss and was disappointed by the artwork in some of the earlier comics series, but I really enjoyed the two volumes--this one included--featuring Diego Galindo's line art.To be honest, because some of the other attempts failed to engage or satisfy, Tomb of Ybwen got past me until I found myself staring at the tradeback collection, surprised and smiling over the cover. Between Pak's story and scripting and Galindo's artwork, the look and feel of the show and the actors makes a successful jump from screen to page, and the end result is a fun and loving tribute to Bob Newby, Stranger Things, Mikey Walsh and Goonies.

Highly recommend. 🙂
