I bought this just for protection. It fits A6100 precisely. Lighter than other heavy duty cages with a better access to all dials. I really like the curved shape of its right side frame, which makes griping very comfortable.If you are concerned about the potential scratch due to its contact on the front of the camera body, you can put some thick tape to the back of the cage (and a few other areas, although I don't think absolutely necessary) as buffering , just like what I did.This is a great, innovative product. I highly recommend. Theoretically, it would offer sufficient protection over the plastic body of A6100, but I can only know after an accident.Another tip is that you may pick a case suitable for Sony A7 full frame series to get good fit if you'd like the cage permanently on. Other cases designed for A6100 may be too tight.

Because this is made of metal, I no longer have to fear dropping my camera and because it has so many ways to expand what's attached to my camera's body, it gives me so many more options while I'm shooting. Highly recommend this product!

This Smallrig cage with hand grip for the Sony a6100 is a must have! There are plenty of mounts along the cage so you won’t have any issues setting up your camera rig. At first I was hesitant about the larger silicone grip but I would definitely recommend getting a cage with the grip. It makes the camera comfortably fit better in your hands especially since the Sony APSC camera are a bit small. It’s very easy to mount to your camera with the built in magnetic tool. The solid aluminum build will help protect your camera from random bumps. Absolutely worth it!

Fit perfectly my Sony A6400. The hand grip is a little bit too big but overall a great product!
