Good needles, great value!
I got the 8in Double Pointed Bamboo Knitting Needles in 14 assorted sizes. The price is awesome and the needles have been wonderful to date. I've used four of the sizes so far; 4, 6, 8, & 11. They've been marvelous, and I love that I can use double pointed needles instead of circular, which helps me keep costs down as I slowly build up my knitting supplies. There are circular needles offered like these double pointed needles, which I will get around to acquiring some day. I figured initially the double pointed needles were the most versatile option, as they can function as straight, circular, and double pointed.I have yet to knit with the tiny sizes, so no comment yet on whether they may be too bendy or potentially break. I think that perhaps even if the tiny ones broke it would still be a good price and value for the larger, sturdier sizes. The things I have noted, not so much concerns as observations:-My cats thought the end of the needles looked interesting to nibble/chomp on. Generally, I make a point to keep my knitting somewhere safe, but I set it down briefly too near a cat and it chomped a little on the tip. Due to the soft nature of the bamboo there were some marks and a little splintering. It rubbed down to a smooth surface, so it doesn't interfere with the yarn, but there are still little tooth dents. They make me smile when I see them, I don't view it as a casualty since no needle was broken, it just gives them character. Just be careful around pets and perhaps even children, if you are a chewer yourself, or bite things when you are frustrated. The soft nature of the bamboo will react permanently to such harassment.-The second issue of note is that one of the yarns I was knitting with bled onto the tips of the needles. It was Paton's Shetland Tweed, probably something to note more regarding the yarn, but again the soft nature of the bamboo also allows it to be absorbent/markable to a degree. So far it doesn't seem to have a negative effect either, just gives character to my #8's and I can always pick them out without reading the sizes.Btw, I love that the needles sizes are marked on all of the needles. It is so convenient. I've currently misplaced my needle size card thing so my unmarked needles are wallowing in anonymity for now.Over all, I love these needles enough I'll probably eventually get their circular siblings. No complaints or troubles encountered to date. For the price it's worth it. Even if you loose or break a needle you're still functional with four. Beyond that the price is fair for even half of the amount of needles, so if you don't like the tiny ones you still got a good deal on medium and large sizes. If you don't like knitting with them at all, they'll make a lovely modern art arrangement in a vase, hair sticks for buns and other up dos, or a great gift for a friend who needs to beef up their knitting supplies. Be creative and enjoy!Fear knot the knitting!

Affordable set of DPN's, but not high-quality
These double-pointed needles are smooth and pleasant to work with. They are pointy without being sharp--just right to pick up the stitches without splitting the yarn. A great bargain for a thrifty knitter.ETA: Now that I have been using these for a year, I have a little more to add. I have discovered that these needles warp like crazy! At first I thought maybe I had accidentally damaged a needle somehow (maybe by sitting on it??), but when more than half of these needles ended up warped after first use, I realized it had nothing to do with me. They are just not very high quality. Not surprising, given the price.Still, they are very affordable for such a big set, and they work just fine in spite of the warping. I still like the points; I don't like when a needle has a rounded tip (makes it hard to pick up stitches, especially when knitting a fine gauge) and these are great. A few needles in the set have ended up a bit rough at the tip, which can snag the yarn, but the vast majority of the needles in the set are still nice and smooth but not slippery. I'm looking into how to smooth them out when that happens; I'm pretty sure i could sand the points and then maybe rub them down with some kind of oil. Either way, it hasn't happened to too many needles.Bottom line: if you're not wealthy but enjoy knitting, and you want a fairly large set of DPN's and don't mind that they will warp after the first use, then I say go for it. I use these often, and my projects turn out great.

You get what you pay for.....
I purchased this set of double points (as well as some circulars and straights from the same company) not long after I started knitting. I've read a number of reviews glowing about how wonderful the needles are and that they are comparable to Clover needles. There is really not much of a comparison as the Clover needles are by far a higher quality than these. These needles are not nearly as smooth as other bamboo needles - these needles seem to be more porous - it seems like they need additional sanding or some wax to smooth them out. It is sometimes difficult to get the yarn to slide off the needles, even though I tend to be a loose knitter. The smaller size needles (3 and below) are very flimsy, so I wouldn't recommend using these for sock knitting. Some of the needles I've used have gotten splintery which causes the yarn to catch on the needle. On the positive side, if you typically just need double point needles for small projects such as decreases on hats, or just getting the center started on a circular piece of knitting such as a pi shawl, then these might be a good purchase for you. These may also be good for knitters that worry about dropping a needle or stitches with slippery DPNS. You can't beat the price - which is the main reason I'm giving it 3 stars - any more expensive and I'd be giving them a 2.PS: I think that there is someone out there (most likely from the manufacturer or distributor) who has been noting negative reviews for these products as "unhelpful".

Never more satisfied with getting the needle!
My wife had searched every outlet for double point knitting needles longer than 8 inches, without success. Finally, I had the bright idea of trying Amazon, where I shop on-line regularly. There were, literally, dozens of choices, of all lengths and needle sizes - and bamboo, her favourite choice.I ordered a large set of 9 inch multiple needle sizes, for less than $20 CDN. They were promised delivered in about a month, we got them in half the time. She has never been more satisfied with a purchase of any kind, so much so she has been telling family and friends where to buy.Thank you
