Imitation of Mary [Hardcover] Kempis, Thomas A

I have read the Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kemphis at least 3xs in my life, and reached for this book when I saw it to see if it was as good. I love it and take it to church with me every day and read it at different times during the mass and after communion. It is a beautiful way to get to know and understand our Blessed Mother better and love her as our Mother. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to draw closer to her.I also love the soft cover and pages. They are made of excellent material and so nice to touch.Also, the font is a good size, not too small to read.

I now have both books sold under this title, and while this is the slimmer by far (and more expensive) it is also the better. It's short, but every single page of the main body is truly inspiring. If you only get one book entitled "The Imitation of Mary" this is the one to get. The translation, while a little modern (I secretly would have enjoyed the text to have been translated in the the style of Challoner because it would have been a closer fit to be favourite version of The Imitation of Christ) is very accessible and unambiguous in nature (perhaps because this is a translation from the original collection which was in Italian). However, none of the beauty or power of the text is lost.As I alluded to at the start, there two books being sold at the moment with this same title, this one is the shorter 157 page collection of writings by Thomas A Kempis which were collected and originally presented in this form by Romolo Sbrocchi, this English translation by Matthew J. O'Connell. The other book is accredited to Alexandre de Rouville and while a excellent book in it's own right, is more a book "written in the style of.."Of course, I would say, buy both if you want, but this slim volume of devotion is my personal favourite."... Holy Mary, my Lady, I ardently desire to see Jesus, Whom you love before and above all else. My heart desires Jesus; my heart calls upon Jesus." (Book3:6.4)

I love this prayer book. 2nd MOST read book in the world is the Imitation of Christ. The Bible being number one. So, I purchased this book on Mary. Wonderful prayer book to read before and after the Rosary.

This little book offers insight into Mary, that builds my faith and humbles the soul. Thomas A Kempis writes like no other.

Great little book that has enhanced my knowledge and devotion to Our Blessed Mother

Great companion for the Imitation of Christ by the same author. I noted that there was very little mention of Mary in Imitation of Christ which puzzled me. I did some investigation into the Mariology of Thomas Kempis and chanced upon this gem. It's been kind of cobbled together from Kempis' various writings but I think the result is outstanding. Not really a fan of the shiny paper. I really don't think the colour pictures are worth the unbooklike shininess of the paper.

This is the most precious book. This book reveals the mother of Jesusfor us. Not much is written in the gospels concerning Mary, yet thisbook, throught insight, makes her known. And to know her opensyour heart to her love as our mother as well. And to honour Mary isto please her Son, the Father & the Holy Spirit.

I have the Imitation of Christ and was looking for another copy with similar text. I accidentally stumbled upon The Imitation of Mary by Kempis, then became confused when I almost purchased it as it is another version (and longer) by someone else.So beware their are two books with the same title. I decided to go for this one because the older scripture by the same author as Imitation of Christ appeals to me. The other book is much more modern (but still old) and is supposed to be also good. Maybe one day I will buy it as well :)The Kempis version I got is beautiful, well made, and has what I see as a bonus; colored pictures and the Stations of the Cross as images.

I bought this as a gift for a good friend who has a great devotion to Our Lady. If you have read the Imitation of Christ by Thomas A Kempis then you will have some idea about what pearls of wisdom this little book contains. To imitate Mary is to imitate Christ as She is never at odds with her Divine Son's Will. If you wish to know Christ even better then look to His mother who will always lead you to Her Divine Son. I have not put this book down. Beautifully bound and the pages are of excellent quality.It is an absolute treasury; makes you re-think things. Another truly inspired book.
