Thai Beginner's Course Paperback – July 6, 2014

I first bought this when I started taking a casual weekly Thai class. It was very hard to try to remember the phrases. But as I continued my regular class, learning to read the Thai alphabet and memorize hundreds of vocabulary and learn some grammar, then I found I could go back to this book and understand a little more and it was easier to learn the new phrases. I think this will come in handy after I finish my Thai class and just want to brush up on stuff before a trip in the future. If you are using a Thai native speaker as a tutor, then maybe using this book would work. Make sure your Thai tutor creates some Quizlet.com flashcards with the Thai pronunciation recorded on them (they will have to get the teacher account for about $15/yr) for you to study, though, or you'll be lost just trying to pronounce them from this book!

It's a very good book to start off on if you don't know where to exactly start.

Not what I expected. I think for some it would be perfect. But it assumes you can pronounce many of the words.

I like this book

Firstly, I am not really gifted in learning languages. Therefore, to learn a new language is always a big challenge for me.As a frequent visitor of Thailand, that has been there several times now, I wanted to discover for myself a little bit the myth and subtleness of the language that is spoken there.To be honest, good language books of Thai are not easy to find. Then I found this one and I have to say, it helped a lot. The main difficulty of Thai is not the grammar (okay, the spelling is impossible!), but in fact the unbelievable difficult pronunciation of vocals and consonants and sounds, that seem to be quite impossible to generate with their tongue for westerners like us.This Beginner's course is the perfect introduction into this really complicated field and is of great assistance to anyone, who wants to start speaking Thai. Especially the thoughtful examples that are used in the book help a lot in understanding and discovering important difficulties of the language. Chapter after chapter you get more into Thai and recognise your often rather surprising progress, because the language is so very different from the languages that we know like English, Spanish, French or German.I really recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn Thai. This book is the perfect start!

Das ist der dritte Thai Sprachführer, den ich mir gekauft habe. In meinen Augen der beste, weil ich hier gezielt die Themen lernen kann, die mich interessieren.Zum Beispiel, Small talk, beim Einkaufen, beim Essen, in der Bar. Alles schöne leicht verständliche und brauchbare Sätze.Für die Aussprache würde ich persönlich noch eine App wie Clickthai dazu empfehlen.Klare Kaufempfehlung meinerseits.
