overlooked classic
The Pretty Things were a huge hit in the UK but somehow never transferred that popularity to the Colonies. This particular effort- 'Silk Torpedo' is a little later in their career. But their heavyweight status in England allowed this to be the only other act (besides 'Bad Company') on the Swan Song label, which everyone knows that was Led Zeppelin's 'in house' record label.Peter Grant managed them as well.Heavily piano based; this record moves smartly from the opening song, which in classic '70's fashion melds nicely into the next track. Incredibly melodic, this is instantly hummable. A very nice addition to anyone's collection; it is both immediately accessible AND familiar without ever having been heard.Throw it on at a party and watch the people come up to you with a 'who's THAT?' kind of delight in their eyes...Don Case

Pretty Good Stuff on here, brother
Pretty Things had an extensive history before this release - being more of a musician's band than a typical crowd favorite. This has been in my LP collection since it was originally released. Really glad to have the remaster on CD. Nice mix of musical styles (but certainly a rock & roll sound). Tight band, great lyrics... a really solid and entertaining effort. Very easy to listen to this from start to finish. For owners of the original, this remaster's bonus tracks are awesome. The Things were obviously quite a great live act.

Terrific Album!
I heard this as a teen on WABX FM in Detroit and always loved Dream/Joey. The guitar solo at the close is awesome and illustrative of Tolson's ability and has that classic Stratocaster tone.

Still gorgeous after all these years
I still like Pretty Things and I think Silk Torpedo is my favorite.

Great CD
Pretty Things are a mega band in Europe but not well known here in the US. This CD is definately worth adding to your collection!

Nice album with catchy tunes
Really good tunes from a long time British band. Bad Company and Pretty Things (This album) were the first on Zep's Swan song label and I believe peter Grant produced for them. hard to find for some reason. Not on Itunes
