Good poles!
I’ve never used trekking poles and was a bit worried they’d be overkill and unnecessary. However after a period of getting used to them I’m now of the opinion that humans should have four legs! These come with a few different bits to put on the ends and in my experience with using rubber feet with mud baskets (which turned out unnecessary as the ground was unseasonably dry!) they didn’t slip on any of the surfaces (including underwater as part of our trek had us shin to knee deep crossing a river). Just be careful you tighten them fully at the height you need. I did have one incident where it gave and slipped to a shorter length as I was trying to help a friend up. This isn’t the intended purpose though, so no stars lost for that!

Lightweight Easy to use but …
I purchased these poles as I wanted something to aid my balance. I only use one pole.I found the poles to be very lightweight so no aching arm & very easy to adjust to the right size - just twist & lock. The fact that they are telescopic also makes them a good pole for packing away when not needed.I have used the poles on both standard pavements & field walking. The sprung mechanism certainly helps reduce jarring, particularly on hard surfaces. However 2 things I have found disappointing are that the primary handle (at the top) despite being described as rubber is a very hard and unforgiving material so after an hour of using the pole on a playing field whilst walking my dog, my hand was quite sore. This wasn’t such an issue on pavement walking so I can only assume the more uneven surfaces cause this problem. Also, the rubber foot comes off with alarmingly little effort. The first time it happened I had accidentally caught the end with my little finger & it fell off. The second time it was pulled off when I walked over a small muddy patch. It hasn’t happened since but I make absolute sure that I have pushed down hard on the pole before I start and lean on the pole whenever I’m out, but it’s now always in the back of my mind. The primary rubber handle is not moisture wicking & I’ve found that it gets slippery when damp or wet. The secondary handle, made of softer foam material doesn’t seem to have this problem but if you’re intending on operating from the top of the pole, sweaty palms, rain or snow may become an issue for you.I would suggest to anyone who gets these poles to have a practice walk before using them so you can get into a proper rhythm.Overall would I recommend them? Yes, if you’re looking for an alternative to a walking stick for pavement walking & only if you’re relatively stable due to the primary handle becoming slippery. If you’re thinking of using these poles for field walking & hiking off-road, I’d say either look at the newer version of this pole (which I haven’t tried) or something else.To finish on a positive, the wrist strap is great compared to some other brands I’ve tried and helps to keep hold of the pole whilst opening doors, pushing buttons at crossings etc. I will be continuing to use mine but with an eye to getting something better when I can afford to.

Competitively priced but heavy
Fairly standard poles with a rotating locking mechanism. I found them heavy compared to my carbon fibre poles, which whilst costing almost twice as much, are far superior to this type of pole HOWEVER, bear in mind the cost.I purchased these for my wife, who felt that they were more than satisfactory for her needs during a mountain walking holiday and after being adamant that she didn't want to purchase the same poles as me, she got what she requested. The poles are:+. Heavy+. Sturdy+. easily adjustable to height, albeit with inferior twist lock Keith adjustment as opposed to clips+. Come with a complete range of attachments for a variety of different types of terrain.+. Come with a carry bagWorth the money and it you are not bothered about weight and inferior locking systems, well worth the money.
