Super easy to apply - much more forgiving than other films. It is thicker and softer than traditional "tint" films, but does truly darken a room. There is a bit of translucence - you will be able to see that there is light outside, but this is the only film I've ever found that qualifies as blackout (except for aluminum foil, if you want that "meth lab" aesthetic). Highly recommend.Install tip: don't try to be cute and pre-cut it to size. Cut it oversize by a minimum of 2" in each direction. Wet the hell out of it and the window, and slap it up there. Be sure both sides are wet before you start smoothing it out. When you have all the bubbles out of the middle and are down to the edges, use a razor or Exacto knife and metal ruler; press the ruler against the film and apply pressure toward the outside edge as you slide your knife down the length. After you've trimmed the excess, remove the remainder of the bubbles from the edges. Use less pressure than you did in the middle to prevent additional stretching of the film and screwing up your immaculately trimmed edges. :)

Blackout is completely opaque, works very well
This is for the blackout version. It works great, it is completely opaque. This might sound obvious, but this is not easy to find, as a shift worker, I have tried many "blackout" products that let a lot of light in.I actually found this to be a pretty forgiving DIY project. I'm not particularly good at anything that requires steady hands or fine motor skills, but these sheets stretch and are easy to cut. I even dropped a piece a couple times, but it does unstick from itself and you can clean it off by brushing it. I cleaned the window thoroughly before application, and then sprayed windex on the glass, and it attached just fine. They are easy to remove by pulling, though.Edit: I decided it worked so well that I did another window with the same product. I used a trick on my windows, I got some black electrical tape to cover up the edges where I didn't cut 100% perfectly, plus the tape helps a little with adhesion, although I don't think the film really needs it.That was a few weeks ago now. This film is really great, I can open and close my window, and it isn't coming off or anything. I don't even need to think about it.

So far so good We will see what happens when it’s 105° outside I did the installation by myself ( and I am a senior female)The product is thicker than I thought it would be and that makes me happy , And I would recommend a brand new box cutter blade and a very very sharp set of scissors The directions were very clearI think the key is really really working the film to get the air bubbles outAnd these are really big windows 31 x 50” It really blacks the room out well so I am cautiously optimistic at this point 😃

Four Stars
Had to change my review from 4 to 1 star. I came to my bedroom on a sunny day and it smelled like burning plastic took me few minutes to figure out what was the smell. Be careful if you are using it to block the sun from entering your room

Blocks light well but gets super hot
Easy to install, and blocks light completely. The one problem is that this stuff gets incredibly hot when it’s in direct sunlight, as it’s black it is absorbing every little bit of sunlight that’s touching it and turning it into heat. I live in the southwest (Albuquerque) and this stuff seems ok for the fall and winter but I’m a little worried how hot it’s going to get in the summer.

Primo solution for those working night shift!
This stuff really works well. My girlfriend is a nurse who works night shift. I put this on the bedroom window and it completely changed her life. It's full on Vegas blackout. Maybe 1% of light might leak through in super bright direct sunlight between the edges of the window but that's really quibbling. If you cut it a quarter inch oversized you'd kill even that little bit of light leakage. It's literally cave spelunking dark. Huge quality of life improvement for anyone that works the night shift.

not to easy to install
I purchased this window film to blacken out a small 44" x 8" window over our shower. The window is on the west side of our house and there is a large mirror opposite it in our bathroom. Early afternoon and evening sun reflects off the mirror making any use of the sinks or mirror impossible. Following the instructions of cutting the film to 1/2" larger per side of the window then trimming once the film is installed, is not possible. !st the film is a thick vinyl material with a paper backing. instructions say to clean window of grease and dirt then remove backing from film. using a spray bottle with a few drops of dish soap and 32 ounces of water, spray both the window and the back of the film. OK did that. placed film on window and squeegeed out the water in between Film and window. Here's where the problem begins. corners "do not" sit flat into corners of window. They will need to be notched. the razor blade knife required needs to be new. (sharp). trimming the extra material from the sided and top/bottom needs to be a full cut from end to end. the vinyl material being thicker than film will not allow you to do this without the material pulling off the window. I tried using a razor blade knife, a roller wheel knife, and finally a brand new scalpel. the edges are choppy and allow in light. The roller knife worked best but I was unable to get into the corners. and took a lot of pressure to cut through the vinyl, it made the straightest cut but because of the needed pressure, left areas uncut, hence the film is jagged all around. If you buy this material, I would suggest you measure your window with as much accuracy as possible and cut this vinyl with scissors as close to the measured dimensions as possible. at least it will fit without trimming. Also the material tends to stretch and move as you are squeegeeing out the water. GOOD LUCK

Would recommend for parents of young kids
Works great, not total blackout but I'd say about 90%. Bought it because my 4 year old wouldn't go to bed because she could see light from the window and she argued it was still daytime. Problem solved with this! Installation was a breeze. Would definitely recommend for parents with young kids. I have to admit it has only been up for a couple of days so I don't know yet if it will stay on. However, I also have to add that it keeps the bedroom cooler which is a plus for us.

Cracked our window! Gets super hot when the sun hits the window and stinks!
Product blocks light very well, no doubt there, when the sun hits the window it creates a Lot of heat and warms the room up substantially also creating a foul smell when (probably the glues). It has actually even caused one of the two windows we have it installed on to crack this winter (I'm assuming that is from the intense heat the window succumbs to from the sun and the cold wether outside)All in all I wouldn't recommend this product there is better ways to block out the light

5 Stars For Customer Service
I didn't get the chance to actually use the product as it was not big enough to fit the door (my fault with measuring). I contacted their customer service to see if I could possibly exchange for a different size, and within the hour was offered a full refund with no questions asked. Will absolutely be buying the bigger size and will write a review then. So even if you are unsure about whether this will be the right window treatment for you, I would absolutely recommend at least trying it as their customer service policy is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Also, if it helps, they included useful instructions on how to apply the product, including an email with a how-to video. The actual roll is in excellent condition and is recyclable if you don't need to use all of it.

Poor quality
Purchased 3 of these to cover up a glass door in our condo for our baby's nursery. 1 of the 3 packages came up 1/2" short from the rest. Also, one end of the roll is also creased, so it does not adhere well to the surface unless you cut that portion off, which would be a waste. The instructions also ask that you overlap the pieces to ensure there is no light leaks, but the product does not bind well to itself.

Great
I have tried a lot of blackout products with each one letting me down in terms of blocking out light completely. I put this on and it made a huge difference. There is no light coming through at all. It was okay to install I did it by myself but noticed today in the light there were a couple areas where it slipped during install not completely alligning with the frame. However should be easy to fix since u can remove and replace. Overall good product and I will be purchasing more!
