A brush is a brush is a brush – oh no it isn’t! I’ve got through a number of yard brushes over the years and I maintain this Newman & Cole product is the brilliant best. The sturdy wooden head is 13 inches wide and the super-stiff hard bristles are 4½ inches long. It is well made and for securing the handle it incorporates a 1¼ inches diameter x 1½ inches deep tough plastic bracket fixed with 4 screws. The bracket is set at an angle to suit brushing movement, and it is pre-drilled to fix the handle. Brilliant – oh yes it is!

Although this broomhead is an excellent quality I didn't realise how difficult it would be to find the broomhandle to go with it. I ordered the correct size for a 13 inch broom but the fitment on the broom is too shallow for the handle to stay in it -and the broom is really heavy. This has really perplexed me because I bought a smaller broom with handle that actually screwed into the broom.- from the same company. Iwas so pleased, I went back to buy this larger broom, thinking it would be easy to find a well fitting handle. But no luck so far. So now i either return both the broom and handle to different companies or hang on to it in the hope that I'll find a solution. Any advice gratefully received....

Item is unsuitable. The plastic bracket is of non-standard size and I can't find a handle to fit. They are either too loose or too large to fit. Apparently the item is 'not eligible for return'. This is the first time I've seen this and it is not mentioned in the description. Do not buy from this seller unless you can be 100% certain that the product is what you need!

Bought two - have I been given a returned package? Both heads falling apart literally- not even attached onto my pole yet lols. Both heads the bristles falling out and were in box separate - am I supposed to put it together myself? The heads were also discoloured and used looking as if they’d been under water? Yet the plastic hole for handle new? Anyway, returned both for refund.

I deserve a medal really as I've had the same broom for 20 years. It's had 14 new heads and 12 new handles.

This is a sturdy and solid broom but was delivered in a damaged state with visible knock and bumps on the wood. A bit disappointed as the produis supposed to be new...Let’s hope the supplier sees my post...

Bought this to replace an old bass broom that had worn down virtually to nothing, with all the use it's had. Hopefully this one will last as long. Feels sturdy and good quality. Easy to assemble with the handle I already had. Just the broom head was supplied, which I was aware of, so if you do need a handle too, that will have to be bought separately.

Concerned about other reviewers comments, decided to give it a go, can’t see any problem with bristles, feels strong, decided to replace plastic handle bracket with a steel one, happy with result, time will tell!
